My projects are all turned in and the semester is over. I still don't have a job yet, but now I can seriously start looking.

I really just wish I could get a job at the Public Library. Seriously.

basically me
So, all the Manpower employees working for 1-800-Walmart got laid off yesterday. This includes me, so I'm now unemployed and on the hunt for a new job. I guess if it had to happen this was the best time for it since I was wondering how I was going to get my projects done for finals & work at the same time (also I wasn't sure how much longer I could handle catering to the legions of soulless Wal*Mart shoppers calling in to complain about the price of cat food going up). The only truly frustrating thing about the situation is that I worked so hard to meet their production goals so I could keep my job, and that stress really didn't even matter in the end. No worries though. I'm not sure where will be the best place for me to go, but I guess I'll just be applying everywhere. I need to try and find something at a design firm here so I can get that "experience" employers want you to have when you enter "the real world" (since I haven't been living there already, or anything).

Otherwise in life I am of course going to be squeezing every second my tired body will stand out of the next 4 and a half days to get my finals projects finished. Then my mom is getting married on May 16th so I'll get to be in Baton Rouge dealing with everything that comes along with that. I can't wait to see it and I need to find some shoes for my dress.

I guess that's all for now. See you around, Livejournal.

I've recently gained some more insight into why my job bothers me so much. I've only been a part of the working world for the last 6 years and this is only the 4th job I've ever had, and so far it's the only one that ever made me feel like I was bad at it. Sure, every job gives you days that make you think, "WTF?! I suck!". But this is an on going occurrence, because I apparently don't shut my customers up fast enough. Anyhow, it's a shitty way to feel about a job. In the event that I find something that pays just as much and is just as flexible (yeah...right..) I'll be all over it.

School is less gratifying this semester than it has been in the past. I haven't quite pin pointed why..I think it's just that my schedule is sort of weird. But I am really enjoying my painting class so far. It's the only 3 hour studio class I think I've ever had that I wasn't totally tired of after the second hour of being there.

Despite the probably whiney tone of this entry, I've actually been feeling really good lately. Can't wait to see some people soon, and some fun is lined up for the near future.

Stolen from someone..

SUPPOSEDLY if you've seen over 85 films, you have no life. Mark the ones you've seen. There are 239 films on this list. Copy this list, go to your own facebook account, paste this as a note. Then, put x's next to the films you've seen, add them up, change the header adding your number, and click post at the bottom. Have fun.

can't it be me?
I just mapped out the rest of my semesters at Southern. I'm a little depressed that it looks like I won't be graduating with most of my friends in the department, but it will be ok. I'm only one semester behind, and 4 1/2 years is better than 5 years, which is what I imagined it would take. Finishing this is something I had trouble believing I'd ever really do, but not anymore.

& Taking a moment to be consumeristic during this holiday time - aw man... )

can't it be me?
So the semester is finally, officially, over for me. I really really enjoyed this one, and feel like I worked a lot harder than I have in the past. I managed to keep myself from procrastinating quite so much, and utilized my time more. I think it was easier because I wasn't having to mount and present a project every other week. The projects were still due like every other week, but not with all the fancy presentation crap surrounding them. I feel like I may have some decent things to put in my portfolio. I am also stupid excited about making webpages during the break, just for fun, with the amazing time saver that is Dreamweaver. Oh, and thank god Ceramics is over One thing I made that I like from the class... )

In other non-school news:
-I still work for 1-800-Walmart and I'm constantly conflicted about continuing to work there.
-Anna is coming to Mom's on the 26th and am super excited about the trip to Baton Rouge to see them.
-I need more money, as usual.
-I'm happy and feel more at peace than I have in a really long time, which has been much needed.

Courtney: For real, I'm ready for a girls night. Kick Shane out.

The semester is almost over...

"The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly coloured and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: "Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, "Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride."
And we kill those people.

But it doesn't matter, because this is just a ride. It's just a ride and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money...it's just a choice right now, between fear and love."
